Travel Vaccinations and Advice
TRAVEL DOCTORS BRISBANE
The travel medicine service of Oxford Street Medical Centre Bulimba
Heading overseas? Book in with our doctors and travel nurse before you go. We'll go through your itinerary, check which vaccinations are recommended or required for each country you're visiting, and talk through malaria prevention, food and water safety and anything specific to your trip. All of our GPs provide travel consultations.
Book at least six weeks before you travel
Some vaccines take time to become effective, and some need more than one dose, so we recommend seeing the doctor at least six weeks before you leave. Travelling sooner than that? Book anyway. There's still plenty we can do to protect you.
What a travel consultation costs
A travel consultation starts at $125, with a Medicare rebate of $45.05. Vaccines are charged separately on the day depending on what you need, and the doctor will tell you the cost before anything is given. Travel consultations are available Monday to Friday. See our fees page for the full list.
What to bring
Your itinerary, with the countries you're visiting and your travel dates

Your Medicare card
Already know which vaccines you need?
If you know what you need for your destination, let Reception know when you book. It means we can have everything ready for your appointment, and the doctor can spend the time on advice tailored to your trip.
Yellow fever accredited clinic
Oxford Street Medical Centre is an accredited yellow fever vaccination centre. If your destination requires proof of yellow fever vaccination for entry, we can vaccinate you and issue your International Certificate of Vaccination on the day. For fees and details, see our yellow fever vaccination page.
Q fever vaccination
We're also a Q fever accredited clinic. Q fever isn't a travel vaccine. It's for people who work with livestock, in abattoirs, on farms, in vet clinics or with wildlife, and screening takes two visits a week apart. Call reception on 07 3902 0099 to arrange Q fever screening.
